I think I’ve had a spiritual experience. What do I do next?

A few weeks ago we wrote a blog about how to tell if you’ve had a spiritual awakening but we also get a lot of questions from community members about life after a spiritual awakening. A spiritual experience, or awakening, can often be a momentous, life-changing event that can leave people wondering, ‘what next?’
Once you have processed your experience, you may want to spend more time focusing on spirituality and tapping into your gift, but aren’t sure how to go about this. Here we look at what to do after you’ve had a spiritual awakening.
- Take advantage of your new point of view
Before your spiritual awakening, you may have been curious about the world of spirituality, but not sure whether you truly believed. This may even be the case just after your experience; sometimes it’s hard to wrap your head around what you’ve experienced and it’s tempting to just go on as though nothing has happened.
However, as we mentioned in our blog about how to recognise if you have had a spiritual experience, you will more than likely feel differently once the initial shock wears off. And once you have learned to trust that yes, it really did happen, you begin to feel more confident in yourself and more open to find out more about what spirituality can offer.
It’s a mind-opening experience, and soon you will begin to feel the benefits of your new worldview. You will feel more calm about matters that used to cause you stress, because you realise that you are part of a bigger picture and that material things are far less important than you once thought. The best thing to do now is to go with the flow, and let things play out how they are meant to; you now understand that everything happens for a reason.
If you want to discover more about what you’ve experienced and discovered, or even just spirituality as a whole, then the best thing to do is learn in any way you can. A few years ago, people had to rely on books to find out more about spiritual subjects; however, though there are still a lot of excellent books you can read, there are also endless websites, forums and blogs (ours is a good example) you can visit to discover more.
- Connect with others
Another great way to learn more about spirituality, and to open your mind to further spiritual experiences, is to connect with the spiritual community.
As previously mentioned, with the rise of the internet and social media, there are many different ways to connect with like minded people. There are countless forums where you can discuss topics, as well as pages and groups on Facebook, or hashtags you can follow on Twitter.
A good way to meet people is to join a group or a class. You’re guaranteed to meet like-minded people at a meditation class, for example. The more people you meet, the more exposure you will have to the spiritual community, and there is so much to gain from the people’s different backgrounds and experiences.
- Talk to a psychic
Who better to talk to about your experience and get advice on how to develop your gifts than those who encounter spirituality every day? Speaking to a psychic is in itself a spiritual experience, and can help open your mind even further. A psychic can give you insight and guidance, and help you take the next steps in your spiritual journey.
